too hot to hold, too much to handle.
Good Day family and Friends.
How ya going? Forth right I'd like to say Happy Birthday Sierra! I have a card for you in the mail. Don't grow up too fast! haha. What did you do for your Birthday? I know Birthdays are a big part of Stobbe culture.
Mum, thanks for Scoty's Mission addy. I can finally send his package off to him now. The one i just sent you cost alot more than i expected. Its ridiculous how much it costs to post stuff here.
This week i made cookies using Mom's famous recipes for all of our 5 Home Teaching Families and our 15 names, and all of our investigators. I figured that would be a good way to get to meet the ones i didn't know, and a good way to build trust with the ones we do know. I've been thinking a lot about Ammon this week and how he knew, being the awesome missionary he was, that the only way he would make any head way with the work was to first show his love through service. I have seen how hours of tracting and diligent application of missionary trainings has shown forth many miracles and successes on my mission. However the main chunk of success i have seen on my mission comes from working closely with the members in our area. The members here in the Mudgeeraba ward are wonderful and eager to assist in the missionary effort. Its been good to be able to have experiences lately where we have effectively been able to build relationships of trust and credibility with the ward members. We are beginning to reap the blessings that come from that. Mum, everyone loved your cookie recipe and everyone wanted copies of the recipes.
Matt I'm looking forward to the package this month. It seems like i haven't really heard from you in ages. But congratulations on all the success you've been having! It sounds like your hard work with E. Naulu is beginning to pay off and people are coming to Church. I agree that it is the best feeling as a missionary to see that person walk through the Chapel doors that you weren't even necessarily expected to come. Naulu sounds like a cool dude. Is he gonna come see us after the mission? What are his plans? How long does he have left?
You know what else sounds cool - Hawaii! You gotta take me there , Bro, when we finish our missions! I want to go on all those hikes with look outs!
Today was temple day, and we took the train up to Brisbane from the Gold Coast. More and more people get on the train to go to work as you get closer to the City. A girl got on and sat down across from me and i started talking to her. I told her we were going to the city and she said "Oh, are you going to the temple?" And i was like... Yeah.. how did you know that?. I said "have you met missionaries like us before?" And shes like yeah, I'm a member. I thought that was funny - We've run into a few members from different wards in our area this past week. She reminded me a lot of Katie Crosby Turns out she is less-active and she just recently moved to the Gold Coast from up north. Shes flirting with some non member mates and hasn't been to church in ages. She said that the YSA reps came past her house last night to invite her to an activity and she didn't know how they got her name and addy, and then this morning she gets on the train and sits around a bunch of missionaries - she said something was trying to tell her that she needed to go back to church. So i encouraged her to and gave her some scriptures to read in the Book of Mormon and stuff.
I had a wonderful time at the temple. It was cool to ride through some of my old areas on the way there (Waterford). I love going to the temple!
On the ride back I sat by a guy with a broken nose that just got out of surgery and he had his face all taped up and stuff. He was cool and ended up giving me his details so that the Isle of Capri missionaries could come visit him, I love getting to talk to people on the train. Ya, so we are having Pday today, because we went to the temple today. That is why the email is late.
Thanks for the new pants Mum and Dad! I won't open them with scissors! ;) They are much needed!
How are the other missionaries in the ward? can you ask Sis. Miller, Aldous, Selk, Stobbe.... Ramsay how their missionaries are doing?
Mum, did the missionaries ever go over to see your Dad? I think of him every time i teach the Plan of Salvation now. Its weird that hes the only Grand Parent i have left now.
Well, I'm excited to report that we have set a baptismal date with a girl named Hilita Williams! Shes around 18 - shes a referral from a member, and her younger brother got baptized a few months before i got here in this area. She is excited to come to church, and we even got her to say the closing prayer at the lesson yesterday! We are really seeing the blessings that come when we apply the trainings which we have received! The hard work is always so worth it when you see them at church or saying a prayer! Please Keep Hilita Williams in your prayers that everything will go right for her baptismal date of Sept. 4th.
My thought for today is found in Ether CH 12 where i have been reading lately. The message is that we have weaknesses to keep us humble. We shouldn't get too frustrated that we have weaknesses - we should just realize that they are there for us to learn from. And we are also given us the promise that when we humble ourselves and learn from our weaknesses, they will become our strengths!
I'm so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ and that people can Change because of what Christ did. Its da best!
I love you all, have a great week. You fairdinkum Gallas! haha, jokes.
Love Elder Prina - ABM!
